Program Structure and Content

Are your programs online?

Yes, all programs are fully online, with no required in-person components or residencies. This ensures that students from any location can participate without the need to travel or relocate. All coursework, assignments, and exams are completed remotely.

Are the courses video-based, book-based, or a combination of both?

Courses are primarily text-based and include reading assignments, textbooks, and supplemental resources like PDFs.

Are your programs self-paced?

Yes, all programs are self-paced, allowing students to progress at their own speed. This flexibility is ideal for those balancing education with work, family, or other commitments. Students can create their own schedules and complete coursework at a pace that works for them, whether that means studying full-time or part-time.

How quickly can I complete a program?

The time to complete a program depends on the student’s pace and the program level:

  • Certificate programs: Typically 6–12 months.
  • Bachelor’s programs: 3–5 years, depending on transfer credits and study intensity.
  • Master’s programs: 2–4 years, depending on the student’s schedule and workload.
  • Doctoral programs: 4-6 years, but students who dedicate more time weekly can complete it sooner.

Do your programs have a determined start and end date?

KCNH programs are designed to be flexible, allowing students to begin their studies at any time of the year and progress at their own pace. However, there are structured time limits for completion, to ensure students stay on track and achieve their goals without unnecessary delays.

Students have access to all courses on the Program Dashboard and have 60 days to complete each course. This structured timeline helps students stay motivated and avoid falling behind. One two-month extension is offered per course.

Here are the general time limits for completing each program:

  • Certificate Programs: 8–12 months (8 months to 1 year)
  • Bachelor’s Degree: 4 years (48 months)
  • Master’s Degree: 3 years (36 months)
  • Doctorate Degree: 4 years (48 months)
  • Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D.): 5 years (60 months)

Can I take individual classes without enrolling in a full program?

No. At this time, we only offer programs, not individual courses.

How do electives work?

Electives at KCNH allow students to customize their education. Most degree programs offer opportunities to take electives or substitute courses marked with an asterisk (*). You can choose the course listed in your contract or replace it with any course from any KCNH program. Substitutions are made on a course-for-course basis, not by credit hours.

Admissions and Eligibility

What are the prerequisites for each program?

Prerequisites depend on the program level:

  • Certificate Programs:  High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Programs: High school diploma or equivalent.

Can I apply directly to a doctoral program without a master’s degree?

In some cases, applicants with a bachelor’s degree and extensive professional or academic experience may be considered for doctoral programs. This is determined on a case-by-case basis, and applicants are encouraged to contact admissions for an evaluation.

Are international students eligible to apply?

Yes, international students are welcome to apply. Additional requirements may include credential evaluations to verify equivalency to U.S. education standards and proof of English proficiency if English is not the applicant’s primary language.

Is it possible to start with a certificate program and then transition into a degree program?
